Inter-regional interchange
Higher, unregulated interchange applied when card and merchant sit in different regions (e.g. US cardholder buying from UK merchant); often 1.15% to 1.65%.

Regulated interchange
Capped rates set by the EU Interchange Fee Regulation (0.2% consumer debit, 0.3% consumer credit) and UK equivalents; commercial cards and inter-regional traffic are exempt.
